Embracing the Current Photography Trend: The Elegance of Authenticity

June 1st, 2026

A trend in photography that I am currently infatuated with, and am eager to share with my wonderful clients, is the resurgence of black and white, filmic, and a more natural look in photography. This trend is not just about the aesthetics of the photographs, but also about the authenticity of the moments captured.

This trend was perfectly exemplified in Selena Gomez's choice of wedding photographers. She went for a style that was not overly posed or contrived, but one that celebrated candid moments beautifully. This is exactly what I have always hoped would become popular. There is often a pressure for everything to be perfect on special occasions, especially on a wedding day. But the truth is, while these days are indeed special, they are rarely perfect. And that's okay. This trend brings back a level of humanity and authenticity to photography that I absolutely adore.

In my work, I have always strived to capture the real, human moments, rather than the overly posed, 'picture-perfect' ones. And if I could, I would shoot almost exclusively in black and white. Perhaps one day, when I am renowned enough, I will. There is something so timeless and elegant about black and white photography. It adds a level of sophistication that is hard to achieve with color photography.

If you're feeling nervous about having your photographs taken or if you're unsure about your surroundings, then this trend is perfect for you. Black and white, and particularly filmic photography, have a way of blending into the environment. When you add professional grain or use an actual film camera, the result is a look that resembles an enhanced tinted primer; not as invasive as a heavy foundation, but just enough to make every one and everything look luxurious.

So, embrace this current photography trend and let your authentic self shine through. After all, true beauty lies in our imperfections and the candid moments that define us.
